George Balanchine originally choreographed a different ballet to Stravinsky’s Violin Concerto in D in 1941, but he forgot his steps when he returned to the music over 30 years later. So he started fresh, and the result is Stravinsky Violin Concerto, a unique pas de deux. Here, Principal Dancers Sara Mearns and Taylor Stanley perform it together.
