On July 20th, 2021 thousands of blue dasher dragonflies appeared at Cape May Point State Park. We are uncertain whether the dragonflies are passing through, or if huge numbers emerged from the pond overnight. Dragonflies are amazing, ancient insects. Before the dinosaurs, some dragonflies were the size of small hawks. The dragonfly life cycle is tied to water. All dragonflies lay their eggs in the water.
