Well done to the Westbrook Fire Dept whose Fire Boat found a stranded Windsurfer on Duck Island. The windsurfers mast and sail broke in the wind. Swimming a great distance with their broken board to the island. A call came in for an overdue windsurfer off of the Westbrook Beach on Seaside Avenue. Fire and Police Boats from Old Saybrook and Clinton as well as State of CT DEEP responded to assist in the search. Tuning the mast fit. This is literally the only way I know how to do it accurately. The sanding block is exactly the size and shape of the mast minus the thickness of the sandpaper. I’ve got 80 grit spray glued onto one end and 150 grit on the other. It’s a pretty small sail and the mast is fairly tough wood so I’m not too worried about adding leather for protection.
