I heard the distinctive screech of the Red-tailed Hawks before I saw them on the mountain this morning. They were celebrating a breakfast on the mountain peak. I loved watching the smaller male use his tail as he held over his mate. The Red-tailed hawk is capable of “kiting,” holding still against the wind on set wings, much like a kite tugging against string.
