Static lung volumes measured by the gold standard body plethysmography. Through the utilisation of Boyle’s law in a sealed chamber we can non invasively and accurately calculate lung volumes and airways resistance. This has an advantage over other methods such as helium dilution which can underestimate volumes when airflow is obstructed.
