Holy Mackinac! A small group of us hiked the 4700' Black Mesa today behind Spur Cross Ranch and in Tonto National Forest in Arizona. It was a 10-mile, 8 1/2 hour ass-kicking hike. More than half of it was off-trail, bushwhacking, over loose rock, big rocks, cactus, grass, steep ascents and steep descents. All awhile being mindful of rattlesnakes.
