These caddis are just some of the floatiest (real word?) natural material caddis around. CDC tends to do that to a fly. I like this pattern in a variety of colors, especially cinnamon, olive, and brown. It's not often I come across a black caddis hatch but I carry a couple just in case conditions call for it and in dirtier water the black stands out from below.
