This shiver of spiny dogfish (Squalus acanthias) was encountered at 20 meters’ depth in the Trondheim fjord last night. The spiny dogfish is one of the most common Norwegian sharks, but because of over fishing and a slow reproduction rate, the species is now protected Norwegian waters. The shark is harmless to people, and a thrill to encounter while scuba diving.
