#class221 and #class220 trains coupled together leaving Derby station. The 221 Super Voyager class of train was built with a tilting mechanism which allows the train to lean over by up to 6 degrees when going around bends, the idea being that it allowed greater speed on the bends without causing passenger discomfort. That technology was based on the work done by British engineers in the development of the ill fated BR APT-e train. But, in 2008, Cross Country Trains disabled the tilting mechanism
