Ukui is a traditional dance of the Lundayeh, one of the Borneo's oldest tribe mostly found in southwest Sabah (e.g. Sipitang, Long Pasia, Tenom) near the Sarawak and Kalimantan (Indonesia) borders. The word Ukui means relief. During the headhunting era more than a century ago, bringing back the heads of the enemies was a sign of bravery. After the Lundayeh men returned from a stressful head hunting expedition, the whole village would come for the ceremony and rituals performed by the high priest
