A baby penguin chick was born to same-sex parents at the Rosamond Gifford Zoo in Syracuse, NY — a first for the zoo. Prior to hatching, the egg was cared for by Elmer and Lima, two adult male Humboldt penguins. The two are continuing to care for and feed the chick since it hatched as well. ‘Elmer and Lima took turns incubating the egg and have been doing a wonderful job warming and feeding the chick,’ the zoo said in a Facebook post.
