The Marine Band's 25th Director Colonel John R. Bourgeois, USMC (Ret.), returns to guest conduct the band! These hour-long performances are free and open to the public, and feature selections of music that the whole family will love - patriotic marches, traditional wind band repertoire and exciting instrumental solos. The Marine Band will perform its final concert of the season at the National Museum of the Marine Corps on Wednesday, Aug. 31, at 7 p.m., in Triangle, Va. This Sunday, the Marine Band will perform a concert titled “Songs from Around the World,” featuring melodies from Brazil, China, England, Italy, Mexico, Russia, Spain, and the United States. Conducted by 1st Lt. Darren Y. Lin, highlights will include Bright Sheng's Shanghai Overture for Symphonic Band, Gustav Holst’s Second Suite in F, Arturo Marquez’s Danzón No. 2, and Concerto Grosso for Woodwind Quartet and Wind Orchestra by Heitor Villa-Lobos.
