@martymakary made some odd comments about the dietary guidelines in their press conference for the new guidelines. He stated that “for decades, we’ve been fed a corrupt food pyramid,” but the originally pyramid was thrown out over 2 decades ago (2005) and the second iteration was retired in 2011 and replaced with MyPlate. So the original one (which is likely what he’s referring to) was a part of the guidelines for less time than it’s been out of the guidelines at this point. He also stated that
