Have you ever heard a dance called flat footing? It is how my grandparents and others dance in Appalachia. Some regions call it Buck Dancing. It is similar to clogging. I have been trying to learn how, in honor of my Mamaw and to help me not miss her so much. I dance whatever I went this summer! “Flatfooting” is a traditional Appalachian form of percussive dance that allows dancers to be just as much a part of the music as a fiddler, banjo or guitar player.
