EARLY! Regional Accents in ASL: EARLY! Here’s another fun look at how regional variations show up in ASL — this time with the sign for EARLY! Just like spoken languages have accents, ASL has regional “accents” too — different ways to sign the same word depending on where you’re from. During my travels across 49 states, I kept journal notes of every Deaf person I met—and wow, their signs were different! These variations are treasures passed down through families, Deaf schools, mainstream programs
