Salvin’s albatross like this one at Parque de las Leyendas are large seabirds that forage over most of the southern Pacific Ocean. Because these birds spend so much time at sea, they have developed special adaptations to help them survive. One such feature is a salt gland that is situated above each bird’s nasal passage.
