1986 Boston Celtics Tribute - The Beautiful Game One of the best teams ever, if not the best. This team just played the game the right way. So selfless and in unity. No one more important than the other. One unit ,one goal. Coach Pop was probably watching them quite often, because I think the present day Spurs play a similar, yet not as beautiful (not as many elite passers as the 1986 C's team), and with more (corner) threes. 🏀On January 29, 1985 Larry Bird hits a last second runner to give the Boston Celtics a 131-130 win over the Detroit Pistons at the Hartford Civic Center. Bird finished with 32 points, 10 rebounds and 5 assists while Kevin McHale came off the Boston bench to add 28 points and 12 rebounds. Isiah Thomas led the Pistons with 33 points and 19 assists while “The Microwave” Vinnie Johnson came off the Detroit bench to add 27 points. 🏀👊🏽On June 5, 1986 the Houston Rockets defeated the Boston Celtics 111-96 in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. The game was highlighted by Ralph Sampson’s ejection early in the 2nd quarter. With 9:40 remaining in the first half, Houston’s Sampson threw punches at the Celtics' reserve guard Jerry Sichting, leading to his ejection while the benches were cleared.
