The decision comes after the Supreme Court objected to the inclusion of a chapter on “corruption in the judiciary” in a Class 8 textbook.
NCERT has withdrawn its controversial Class 8 Social Science textbook and is attempting to recover the 38 copies already sold after objections over judiciary-related content.
The Supreme Court bench also made it clear that it was not happy with the apology issued by NCERT over the Class 8 social science textbook.
A chapter in the new NCERT Class 8 Social Science textbook mentions ‘corruption at various levels of the judiciary’ and ‘massive backlog’ as among the ‘challenges’ faced by the judicial system.
